Essay Writing Practice: Who Teaches You to Be a Good Person?

Some people think parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others think schools should do it. I think family matters more.

Schools have advantages. Standardized education helps develop skills students need to contribute to society later. Trung Vuong school and Vinschool produced successful alumni like Professor Ngo Bao and Professor Nguyen Hung. They devoted their talents to developing the country. Impressive.

But those people represent a tiny fraction of students. Most kids going through school don’t become professors. Schools can’t shape every student into a good citizen. The math doesn’t work.

Parents have better odds. In Vietnam, average class size is 20 students. Teachers can’t give proper attention to each child. One-on-one lessons at home let children progress faster. Parents also form stronger bonds with their kids. That bond gives them power to shape personalities early, when it counts most.

Think about bedtime stories. Parents who tell their children about Robin Hood or Cinderella aren’t just entertaining them. They’re teaching compassion and integrity. Those lessons stick. Kids who grow up hearing these stories from people they trust completely become better adults.

Schools teach facts. Parents shape who you become. Sending children to schools helps. But home determines their character. Family upbringing matters more than any classroom.
